Bio:
Amazon best-selling author in Contemporary Romance and Romantic Suspense. Whew, I can't believe that just happened.
Writing has been a long hidden passion. When my grad school professors suggested that I write for my own pleasure, I was skeptical and not certain of the vulnerability. However, I'm so grateful I took the plunge and I will never look back.
With the first two books released in the Running Series, I'm looking forward to releasing Chasing Air, a romantic suspense novel in October and the 3rd installment of The Running Series, My Confession, will follow in December.
Thank you to the readers who have read, shared and reached out. It means the world to me.
Excerpt:
She approached the front door to knock, but suddenly shuddered with nerves. Her brain was telling her this was dangerous territory, but her heart wouldnât let her run. She knew that any involvement with an officer was a huge risk. She turned to walk back to her car when the front door opened.
âAre you running away, Makenzie?â
Shocked and unprepared, she turned back to him, stammering for her words.
âN, n, no, I left my phone in the car. I thought I would grab it and my charger before I came in.â
She knew her nervous behavior was obvious. But looking down, she realized she was busted.
âMakenzie, youâre holding your phone in your hand. Now, be honest. Were you just going to leave and stand me up?â
By this time, he had walked out onto the front porch with her, holding a hot pad in his hand.
âBusted. Yep, I was âbout to chicken out, Ryler. Iâm not very good with the dating thing. Out of my comfort zone. Iâm sorry, Iâm a schmuck, I canât do this. I should go.â
She turned back towards her car only to have Ryler follow her. When he grabbed her arm, it startled her and she jerked back.
âDonât ever grab me again.â
Tracy's Review
Mak, Dr. Makenzie Holder, is an ER doctor in Texas. While talking to the parents of a patient, Detective Ryler Buchanan walks into her life. Her coworkers keep talking about what a great guy he is, but Mak isnât looking for a relationship. She has too many secrets in her past and for her safety, as well as those around her, Mak needs to keep the persistent detective at a distance. Soon after meeting Ryler, Mak also meets Jonathan, a developer, while at the pool in her apartment complex. Jonathan asks Mak to go out with a group of friends and they have a great time. Mak is happy to finally be making new friends in her new life. However, Mak went from zero male interests to two in a matter of days. Ryler tries to seduce her with coconut pie, and Jonathan tries to woo her with his money and material offerings. Who will Mak decide to be with? What will happen when her past finally catches up with her?
This was a very sweet book. Ryler was the perfect man. Jonathan reminded Mak of her husband. Yes, I said husband. Mak is in hiding from her mobster husband. While I did find this to be a nice sweet book, it seemed to be too sweet. Ryler was just perfect. Everything he did was perfect. Their life together was perfect. I also found it to be a little unbelievable that Jonathan gave up his pursuit of Mak so easily. One minute heâs telling his mom that Mak is the one, the next heâs pouting because Mak didnât have sex with him. After she leaves him pouting at his house, we only have one small encounter with him on the phone and then when Makâs moving out of her apartment. The major conflict of Makâs mobster husband is resolved fairly early in the book also, after that again everything was just perfect between Mak and Ryler. This book was well written and easy to read. I recommend it to anyone looking for a nice sweet read.
