This is a very quick read. I had a hard time putting it down. While some of the story lines have been done before the author has written a really charming story with characters that draw you in. Harp has not has an easy life but she is looking forward to the future. I like that her best friend and the only person she opens up to is a guy. Things then progress from friendship to romance. The only issue I have with the story is how quickly Harp’s mother changes. The catalyst to wake her up makes sense but it’s just such a quick 180 degree turnaround it’s tough to accept. Once you hear her story you can understand her bitterness but tough as the reader to forgive her after how she treated Harp. I do think the author does a good job with Harp’s reaction. She feels like you as the reader do and can’t forgive or forget easily. Fair warning there is a sequel the book does not end on a cliffhanger but the story is far from resolved.
