The model on the cover had me in a melted puddle and one can just drown in those beautiful green eyes! Once you've read the book the covet art takes on an even deeper and emotional meaning ♥
Once I started reading I realised this wasn't a traditional guy likes girl it was a guy likes guy novel !
I was a little sceptical at first as this was a first for me but Julian and Matt's story really is beautiful. As I mentioned I was sceptical but I read this book for what it was , it was a journey of healing , second chances, forgiveness and finding love .
Matt went to prison for a white collar crime he didn't actually commit but he took the blame out of love for his brother but also out of guilt as he blamed himself for the trouble he got himself into but all of this is unknown to the family . Matt also harbours another secret , that of his sexuality.
Coming out of a well to do family and his "criminal" activities he's already seen as an outcast so I understand his reluctance to come out the closet so to speak. His aunt, the only family member other than his brother knows of this. When she dies she leaves him a sum of money and with this he starts a halfway house for guys coming out of prison looking for a fresh start and this is where Julian comes into the picture.
Julian is a contractor and helps Matt renovate the house. Julian has a dark past himself coming out of a home with an abusive father. When Julian tells his family of his sexuality his dad turns violent and nearly slits his wrist off! This explains the wrist band and that's why I say once you've read the book the cover art takes a deeper meaning.
There were a couple of negative reviews that said the book was soppy but I beg to differ it was a story that reminds you that love knows no boundaries and the value of forgiveness and how it helps you to heal your hurts by letting go.
